Javier N. Solis, President & CEO
Javier left Ecuador in 1989 and attended the City University of New York. In 1994, Javier became a Constituent Liaison to the New York State Senate where Javier became adept in assisting constituents resolve their problems through persistent advocacy and courteous follow-up.
After a short tenure as Program Director and Counselor with El Puente (of Williamsburg), Javier joined the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation in Brooklyn as the Mortgage Foreclosure Action Program Director. Javiers experience in advocacy and negotiating complex bureaucracies prepared him well to help homeowners at risk of losing their homes: their dreams. With the utilization of loss mitigation tools and following HUD, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac's guidelines, Javier was able to stop foreclosures, reach forbearance agreements and fight for loan modifications for over 1000 homeowners. Javier became passionate and grew knowledgeable about sub-prime lending issues, Home Mortgage Disclosure Data (HMDA), and bank performance according to the Community Reinvestment Act. In 1998 Javier started the Homeownership Program from scratch and became its Director. Javier developed marketing materials and held events to promote the Homeownership Program. Additionally, he developed the curriculum for a series of five educational Homebuyers Seminars and featured several professionals integral to the home buying process. Through Javiers work, the Homeownership Program flourished and became a valuable service to not only Brooklyns residents, but the whole tri-state area. Javier had become an advocate on behalf of first-time home buyers, and an outspoken critic of unprofessional and questionable practices by those involved in the home buying process. In 2001, Javier was hired by the Abyssinian Development Corporation, one of the largest non-profit faith organization and developers in the US, to run and oversee the Homeownership Program in Harlem, NY. The program grew from 15 participants in each Homeownership Series to over 115 on monthly seminars educating thousands of first time home buyers. Javier was instrumental in securing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developments certification as a Housing Counseling Agency, as well as, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development of the City of New Yorks certification.
Javiers expertise and knowledge has been featured on Channel 9, NBC-Telemundo-Channel 47, Univision-channel 41, the Christian Vision Radio and several newspapers. As part of his commitment to home ownership education, since 1999, Javier has been a volunteer host of the biweekly Noticiero 47s segment Su Casa and the weekly program Casa y Finanzas at NBC-Telemundo. He also serves as volunteer consultant to the New York City Hispanic Clergy Association for Justice, Inc. and has been its guest speaker for its weekly radio program at the Hispanic Christian Radio Vision since 2000. Javier serves as volunteer guest speaker to several community organizations in the metropolitan area and other states.
Javier started an Income Tax practice in 1991 and opened his office in 2000. During those years, Javier developed a marketing and administration strategy focused on the Latino market, increasing the companys clientele base over 4,000 individual and business clients nationwide. In 2007 Javier launched Los Taxes, the First Latino Income Tax Preparation Franchise in the US. Los Taxes will focus on providing excellence in tax preparation service to the Latino community. Para Nuestra Gente, For our People, states the companys commitment to meet the financial needs of Hispanics, especially in the area of tax preparation, by offering an office environment where Hispanic taxpayers can find professionals who understand not only their language but specifically their culture.
In 2005, Javier and other Real Estate professionals in NY started the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals - NAHREP NYC Chapter. As Executive Boar member and Treasurer, Javier was very instrumental in organizing networking events for chapter expansion and increase in membership. Javier also secured several speakers from his database of well recognized real estate professionals in the private and government arenas. He believes that the best way to prevent predatory lending practices of real estate is by educating the home buyer, but more important, teach our professionals that selling a house or approving a mortgage do not only represent a commission but truly a change in peoples lives. In 2007, Javier funded the NAHREP Metro DC Chapter where he currently serves as its President.
Javier is married to Wanda, and the proud father of Selena and Javier Antonio.
Juan Cabrera, Chief Financial Officer
Juan was born in Ecuador. He received his Bachelors Degree as a Public Accountant from the Vicente Rocafuerte Laic University.
While in college, Juan used to work at one of the largest hotels in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Continental Hotel, as a Junior Accountant in the Finance Department for five years.
Juan received a job offer to reorganize the Finance Department at Tambo Real Hotel in Quito. He developed a new structure for the department including the addition of additional sub-departments such as Systems, Audits and Events Finance. He was promoted to Hotel Manager to oversee additional responsibilities such as Customer Service, Food and Beverage Service.
While in Quito, he was contacted by the developers of El Sol Mall, the largest mall in Guayaquil to be part of the development team. His responsibilities included: Design and set up of the Food Court; Selection, hiring and training of 145 employees; Development of the Procedures Manual; and, Preparation of the Budget, Projections, Cash flood and expense control.
His experience with the Franchise industry started with M&B Group, a fast food franchise based out of Quito. As the Regional Vice-President, Juan designed and built the headquarters including the implementation of cameras, food storage facilities, laboratory, training facilities, etc. The franchise grew to 22 units in three years.
Juan arrived to New York in 2002 where he started working at Marti & Associates a local accounting firm in Long Island. He was assigned to prepare individual and business tax returns; individual and corporate financial statements, clients payable and receivable accounts, Bank reconciliation, Sales Tax return preparation, payroll and Business licenses.
In 2007, Juan joined Los Taxes as the Chief Financial Officer. He oversees the Finance Department and is a member of Los Taxes Executive Management Team.
